just be aware, give him the benefit of the doubt this time, but keep your options open, control can manifest in many different ways. its about power. so he could try to limit you going out, or what you wear when you do go out, what time you back etc. he might try to limit your friends, especially male friends. he will try to distance you from friends and family, he would check your phone, emails , face book etc, tell you what photos to put up or take down etc. he might try to take control of money. he might make you do sexual favours you wouldn't normally do!. these are just examples of behaviors of controlling men, but a controlling man might not display all of these characteristics or any he might be very clever. if he cant be wrong, he always has to have the last word, he would argue grass was purple until you agrees with him that he was right!! simple things like that are good tell tell signs, is its about power!! he will always need to have a position of control or power. he might put you down say nasty things to you like say your fat or ugly or stupid, he will try to make you feel worthless, that wat you will stay with him because he is trying to make you believe nobody else will want you!!
