Well personally, I have 14 friends and 9 of them are family or I consider family (known long enough).
I don't find friends on facebook to be all too important because then you get sucked into the friend wars with your real-life friends and eventually all you talk about is what your friends said to who on facebook. Then everyone becomes a keyboard warrior and everything is fake.

I prefer to go out and have friends that I talk to without a computer and go to bars or public basketball games or something like that so we have something we all lived through instead of a viral video on youtube we shared with our "friends".
