Well, I say, the best bet is be honest and tell the truth to both of them. Tell them you don't wanna start a clash because being a friend, you care about your friendship, you don't wanna ruin it. If they get mad at you, tell them, do not kill the messenger, you have absolutely nothing to do with it, so do not put you between a rock and a hard place, you are just trying to be their friend.
