If Jesus is the Messiah in Islam, why is Muhammad more important?

Yes, we Muslims accept Jesus as the Messiah but not the son of god [i.e. Allah].

Allah said,'' [And mention] when the angels said, "O Mary, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary - distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to Allah ].'' [3:48].

H again said,'' O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, "Three"; desist - it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.'' [4:171].

Jesus is not the son of Allah Allah created him. He said,'' They have certainly disbelieved who say, " Allah is the third of three." And there is no god except one God. And if they do not desist from what they are saying, there will surely afflict the disbelievers among them a painful punishment.'' [5:73].

But Jesus was not for us. He was sent to people of Israel. He was sent for a limited time and place. The validity of his expired the day the last prophet, Muhammad SAW appeared.

Jesus himself prayed to god [i.e. Allah]: He then advanced a little, then bowed and prayed, saying: "O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup from me, but not as a my will, but as You will." [Matthew 26:39]

Will a son prostrate infront his own father? Obviously not. He worshiped a being of a higher standard than him.

Jesus was a Muslim: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jesus-was-...4586961335

Jesus himself admitted that Muhammad SAW was the last prophet. Muhammad SAW prophesied in the Bible: http://www.islam101.com/religions/christ...mBible.htm

In the Quran,'' And call to mind when Jesus, son of Mary, said, 'O children of Israel, surely, I am Allah's Messenger unto you, fulfilling that which is before me of the prophecies of the Torah, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger who will come after me, his name being Ahmad. And when he came to them with clear proofs, they said, this is manifest sorcery.'' [61:7].

Muhammad SAW's teaching wasn't limited for a time or place. He was for the whole universe and for people of all-time. Regards.
