I'm going to stick up for you Sophie as I think Suhaana missed the point, slightly. I too have been working on websites and things related to the Internet for longer than Google has been around, lots of people have.

Although Google is so mighty and powerful now, there are those of us who used to be working with the likes of Webcrawler, Lycos, Altavista, Yahoo etc., long before Google became what it is today.

Without doubt, a good SEO, which I'm sure you are Sophie, there is a lot more to the web and to making a website a success, than Google rankings but, it has to be said; Google is the Daddy now.
