what are some really good ways to get my band noticed?

Make a Twitter account. Follow people who follow bands that inspire your playing. Hopefully they'll follow you back, they'll spread the word and whatnot. The use of hashtags also make it easy for people to find your band and to hear about it. Set up a Facebook account. Keeping people up to date with things on Twitter is alright, but you're limited. Facebook is better for keeping people up to date etc. (I don't bother with Facebook, only Twitter.

YouTube is good too. This means that people are able to listen to your band's music.

If you use these 3 websites, you'll soon attract an audience. The people from Twitter will look on your Facebook. The people who look on your YouTube will check out your Facebook and so forth.
