Satirical, dystopian twitter short story...?

Sure you could do something with a separate Twitter-like network. But where is the satirical part.

Some other ideas - the network communicates through fake lost animal posters on grocery store bulletin boards. Oddly some of the non-existent animals could be found.

Or communicating through cryptic symbolic digital art on a picture board might be interesting. But one of the paintings (or the account they are posted in) wins some unwanted Art forum prize and suddenly tons of people are looking at them.

But if you have a way to make the twitter-like one satirical, go for it.

If you meant satirical in the sense of making it a satire of current trends, sure the Twitter-like one would be good. But it needs to be more satirical. For example, I have found that even on boards where people can say whatever they want, there are always members who don't want them to push religion, degrade religion, curse, preach violence, malign the US or its president, etc. So to coexist and have a reasonable discussion, members need to censor themselves. That could possibly be the basis for a satire. Another idea, would be that some of the more divisive and secretive elements of real twitter could worm their way into the underground twitter - friends lists, ignore, and private messages. Just some ideas.

Satire is meant to be funny while at the same time an attack on something you disapprove of, in your case the internet censorship
