Can a freshmen go out with a senior?

Hello there! So, I'm a freshmen in high school and I'm fourteen right now. I'm going to turn fifteen in about a month and awhile ago. I met this senior at a volunteering event for school. And he was really really cool. He eventually added me on facebook and we started texting, talking on the phone a lot, making plans, and everything. He's seventeen and turns eighteen in July. He told me before that he would consider dating me and he seems to like me. And I really do like the guy. He's also a friend of my brother's, who is also a senior. And my brother said he was a really good guy. I really want to date him, but whenever I bring up the possibility of dating a boy older than me to my parents, they tell me that two years should be the max. But I don't know, I feel like if they met him, they'd really love him. And I'd reassure then I won't plan to go any further than maybe a kiss with him. But maybe they could be right? Some friends have been telling me that he's too old for me. And I'm not sure what to do any more. What do you guys think I should do?
