Are fat men less desired than fat women in relationships?
There are numerous campaigns and advertisements out there that try to boost the self esteem of fat women but virtually none for fat men. I've come across numerous Facebook pages devoted to boosting plus sized women. These campaigns often include phrases like "big is beautiful" or "women come in all shapes and sizes" whereas the portrayal of fat men is done in a negative light. They are often portrayed as fat lazy disgusting slobs. Why is it this way? Is it because WOMEN's concerns are prioritized over that of men's? It belittles any seriousness of wanting to bring social acceptance to obese people with such hypocrisy.
For me it's hard to take it seriously when I go to store and see magazines portraying plus sized women in a positive light then I go home and on the TV there's a man of similar figure being portrayed negatively. Also, in your opinion do you think generally speaking fat women are more desired by fit men than fat men are desired by fit women? I've seen more fit men in relationships with fat women than the reverse. Ads |
