AFAIK, it is a prefix for command in programming (or for some game). When he used it for like /lol, it means that he did laughing (or pretend. IDK. I'm not his mother). Another example, /taunt, it means he pretend himself taunting somebody. As for /coughcough, he pretends (or actually) coughing. It is like that the writer tried to tell the other that he did something, preferably in conversation in internet.

This is the example :

[YoSonikIsAwzome] dude gimme a break
[maTILda] eh, I need sum weed
[YoSonikIsAwzome] /cutsomeweed
[maTILda] /watchingyoucutsomeweed
[YoSonikIsAwzome] lol you creep me out /shiver
[maTILda] /meaningfulsmile
[YoSonikIsAwzome] sh-t /runlikeamadcow
[maTILda] /chase
[YoSonikIsAwzome] /jumpoveralazydog
[maTILda] you're not a fox /facepalm
