Twitter Autoresponder?

So I saw DBZNappa and ever since, I've felt obligated to make an autoresponder for myself. I got an idea for one, and tried a demo for a program that does it and the page got a lot of responses, retweets, favorites and followers after just 22 post and 2 hours of being up. But the program wasn't replying, it just tagged people in post. Then it stopped working completely after about 5 minutes. So I've been working the past 4 hours trying to figure this out. No luck. Any suggestions?
