Should I give him a chance?

I'm gay and never been in a relationship. Recently this guy messaged me on a dating site I've been using and we have been talking for about 3 weeks now. We have a lot in common,it's uncanny. He's so nice and caring to me. He's confident and I'm somewhat shy. His personality is a great match up to mine. His profile picture is decent. I got curious and looked if he has a facebook profile and he does. The more pictures I see of him, I get turned off I guess. After seeing pictures of him on facebook, he turned decent to ugly in my opinion. I'm not attracted to him physically but probably only emotionally. I know I'm shallow asshol.e, but is it wrong of me to want my first love to be someone special whom I have a total interest in? We recently traded info on skype. We haven't seen each other in person or chatted on skype yet because I've been busy studying for midterms. I know he will ask me out during spring break. (We go to different colleges and the term is ending soon.) I don't know what to do. Do I ignore him now? Tell him how I really feel? See how things go after our first video chat? Give the first date a chance, assuming if he asks me out? Please help me out, thanks.
