Since most users of SMS messages are friends or family members, therefore its writing style is very informal, at times you may use abbreviations like lol, idk, omg that happen to be a norm in text messages. The language used is much more closer to the spoken one rather than the written form.

And its brevity and speed has made people crazy who keep on sending text messages on a scale not forcasted before. Its user friendly features like slang words, acronyms and other forms never known before in written messages has made it an instant success. Lastly, William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens and Emily Bronte would be totally out of mind to know that innovation has transformed the customary etiquettes and salutations of English language to a laughing stock of abbreviations.
