Both tablets are pretty much around your budget and would do what you want from them pretty well. I.e for powerpoint, games, facebook, instagram, twitter etc.

I would suggest you to read these comments on Galaxy tab 3 from an actual user, compared to Nexus 7 and iPad Mini:

IMO Galaxy tab 3 is the best option.
