No it's not weird. Just strike up a conversation with her, asking how her summer is going and then somewhere in the conversation (like if it starts to die or s/t) ask her for number. Be like, "hey do you have a phone?" make something up and say you don't get on twitter much but you would like to continue talking to her. It's not weird asking for a girl or guys number. Good luck!
