Why is my internet usage so high?

Hey guys. So I have Rogers High Speed Internet; 80 GB worth of it.
Rogers is REALLY ticking me off. Because my friend has 75 GB, over 7 people in her household that all watch movies daily but they never have a problem with over-usage.
Me? I can hardly watch an episode of a TV show online without the usage sky rocketing up to 3-4 GB each day.

It's really making me mad. Rogers is known for scamming money; we all know that. But I wish that there are better companies out there.

My wifi is secure. Password protected. No need to worry about that. I used to survive with 2GB of internet (remember those days?) I would be able to play games daily without a problem. Then I went up to 25GB. HEAVEN at the time. But that wasn't even enough. And now it's 80 GB. I feel like each time the usage limit is multiplied, my actual usage multiplies as well.

Does that make sense? Of course, we're taking the 80GB for granted and using more than before. But not AS much as to getting over it.

Now and days; I'm on the laptop for maybe 5 hours, writing stories on Microsoft word for 3 hours (I turn off my wifi connection so Rogers can't secretly take anything), Create one or two outfits on Polyvore, and stay updated on Twitter. I browse quite a few websites as well, but that shouldn't take up 3GB a day right?!?!? I might download a song or two some days, or maybe watch 10 minutes of YouTube another. But that's not daily.

I've tried contacting Rogers about this but all they do is Yap and blame it on my side. I don't know.

Could any of you help me here? Has this happened to you before? If yes, what did you do about it?
