If i update my basic info on facebook will my friends be notified or see it in their news feed?

I recently changed my employment details and hometown but I didn't want all my friends seeing this in their newsfeed.. all I did prior to changing those details was change the privacy setting. So I just changed it to "only me".. Then I changed my details and saved it.. However if you want people to see it, but not be updated on the fact you recently changed it, leave it as viewable by "only me" for maybe a day or two, and then change it to viewable by friends or public (whichever you want). This should keep it from showing up on your friends newsfeed. I hope this makes sense!

Oh and you have the option of changing who views your details (like hometown, workplace etc) for each category. So just go into edit profile from your time line and you'll see!
