How do you feel about African Americans? Why do they play the race card more than any other race?

Ah! I'm a quiet and shy black girl. I design, read Japanese mangas, ice skate and play video games, and have two adorable persian cats. I live in a really nice black community and I was lucky not to have to deal with tons mean people.

But those few women... I'm not really certain why they behave like this, but I will try and work through an answer with what I know.

So. just my background. My family is Caribbean...

As a child I never saw race because my family is full of mixed Jamaicans. My second cousin is even Asian...you couldn't tell she is related to me. I never asked why and I never asked why grandma was light either. School was full of different people..so the world around me reflected what I already knew at home...we all looked different.

As for the race card. This is how I see the world:

Growing up and hearing all of this race stuff has become disheartening to me. I'm always afraid of people not considering me because I am a black American. I can't deny that. I KNOW I wasn't grown into that.(as I told u..I didn't see race as a child)..it just developed in the news around me. Just the other day I heard my boyfriend's brother say "why would I marry a black girl when a white girl is the superior choice?" WOW RIGHT?! It hurts! I don't know where he got that, but his family didn't teach him that! Well..as you can see, yes some black people are brainwashed to make their own feel bad as well. They deal with some black women and judge them all...which makes me feel unwanted and already judged..even by my own.

Consider things like twerking in the media. Its been done forever by black women, but not noticed as a thing until Miley does it. Why? Not saying I condone it, but just the little things add up and I ask...why is that? I see articles about black women being the ugliest group of women in the world and people trying to pass that off as fact! REF: Psychology Today by Kanazawa. It REALLY hurts.

I just graduated college and I am unemployed/freelancer am afraid I won't get hired because I am black... Maybe I won't fit into the culture of their company? All I see in the media is that if my little brother or boyfriend were out there...people may judge them because they are black. They might be thieves. I watched the show "what would you do?" black kids beat up on the car...tons of people called cops and even called the cops on the family of the children who were in the study! They were just sleeping in their car nearby! Not even PART of the STUDY! CRAZY! The white kids...I don't think anyone called the police on them. As you can see...I can't help but feel cautious about the world around me...and I hate it!

SO....my boyfriend is always extra careful because he's tall and dark, but we've been together for 8 years and he's a really sweet guy. He's always wondering what people think of him because of how he looks and it isn't right! I always tell him not to worry...you are a hard worker. If you work hard...you'll make it! I don't want people to look at him badly because he's black! AND AGAIN..it isn't just whites that do it. Blacks do it to blacks!
I always hear that if I died or went missing...it wouldn't be likely seen on the news or brought to national attention. Its just what has been going around the air these days. I'm even afraid of people thinking that because I'm black I am GOING to pull the race card and I honestly DON'T agree with everything being a race issue! Some people jump to unnecessary conclusions!

But another thing that was strange...on wife swap and this black lady saw mammy dolls all around the swap family's house. The white girl was hugging the a huge mammy doll and she asked kindly for her to put it away, but then after a while she was crying about how blacks saw her as racist. WHY DID SHE BRING THE MAMMY DOLL IN FRONT OF THE WOMAN...I know you don't hug it every day! She took it out on purpose!!!...why provoke the black woman?. And yes! that happens too! and then it looks like blacks are pulling the race card, but I've seen times when people want to get a reaction out of blacks.

But despite that...blacks don't have to deal with the racism that ancestors dealt with, but it is still there. Other times, blacks jump to conclusions, and my boyfriend's father does that...and I don't agree with it.

But anyway It really depends on what environment you end up in and I'm sorry you have to deal with that...its wrong if anyone is treating you badly for no reason! Lets not forget that black girls can be really mean to other black girls too...I've seen that many many times.

I'm going to give my idea on those kinds of girls...
Those girls are simply nasty 4 no reason... or they have dealt with deadbeat parents or relationships. Mothers sometimes tell their daughters to be strong because of deadbeat guys they have had experience with.....and I think that maybe it is a defense mechanism that ends with them being bullies or overly hostile to protect themselves from harm. Its just a theory. I can't really answer for them though! I also think they may have just grown up into that environment. Despite that, there is no excuse for them being mean like that. It is disgusting and It makes me VERY upset to see it!

Despite that, I've had to defend a white guy in high school from some white and black girls & I think I was the only one to help him & he ended up liking me..... Too bad I had a boyfriend though...
BUT because of these experiences & how I was raised..I just see people as people & I won't hold a grudge against any race despite how I feel about how I may be treated. People are people. Some mean..some nasty!

Just as you say you aren't racist, some other white person could have grown up around nothing but racism and you just can't understand why they are like that. But just don't associate with rude people like that. All of my black friends are super nice people though! As long as I've known them I haven't gotten into 1 argument.
