If a modem is the pathway to the internet, don't I need to good modem to make my internet fast?
I have fibre optics broadband, but my modem is quite lousy, I'm using the internet through a wired connection to my desktop.

Since fibre optics supports speed to up to 300mbps, does my modem slow down the speed to my computer, or does it support the full 300mbps? Is there a way to check?
