iPhones constantly receive and send data. Unfortunately, carriers don't offer unlimited data plans like they used to. If I were you, make sure the programs are completely turned off. To do this, tap the home button twice quickly and a menu at the bottom will appear. Press and hold on to one of the icons and they will start wiggling and have minus signs in the corner. Close all of the applications to save on mb usage and battery life.
