I'm 17 and I guess i'm pretty lucky that my particular group of friends are pretty smart when it comes to music.

My favorite artist is Elvis Presley. I love Bob Dylan, CCR, AC/DC, Meatloaf, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, The Black Keys, Muddy Waters, Etta James, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis.

I find it baffling how people can listen, actually listen to modern music and say it is good. It sounds bad. It is repetitive, fake, robotic, Nonsensical and often vulgar. Very few people actually sing and less play instruments. They say "oh nut they write their own stuff". A three year old could write today's music and i'm not so sure it isn't actually written by children.

Older music just sounds passionate, raw and touching. The artists where artists and they believed in what they where doing.

The only worthwhile artists out today are the black keys and tenacious d. Neither of whom are very successful, because they make real music.

Wake up people.

The pop stars of the 50s where Elvis, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Eddie Cochran. All great.
The popstars of the 60s were the Beatles, Ray Charles,Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, the Byrds, Elvis and many more great people.
The 70s popstars where Elvis, Queen, Marvin Gaye, Zeppelin, Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith, Sex Pistols, AC/DC, Stevie Wonder, Elton John All great.
The popstars of the 80s were : Stevie wonder, Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Prince. All great
The 90s had : Nirvanna, Eminem, Green Day.

EDIT : and SPARDUS, although I agree with you, I must disagree with what you wrote. Talent has nothing to do with knowledge. Knowledgeable people where always behind the scenes in music.
