No, E-Mail marketing is very effective when done properly. Sending spam to people has never really been that effective in any form, and as algorythms improve this becomes less effective (it is in service providers interests to reduce spam on any platform to better user experience.)

You need to provide significant value through your e-mail marketing campaigns rather than just selling if you want e-mail marketing to work well for you.
