kindle fire or ipad mini or nexus 7?

All of these tablets can have music from iTunes, as music from iTunes are not DRM protected and can be used on any devices.

Among the three tablets, the iPad Mini is simply overpriced. It has poor screen resolution (1024 x 768, compared to 1280 x 800 on the other two tablets), and the processor isn't fast (it's the same as the one on iPad 2). Another thing I don't like is that content like movies and books bought from Apple can only used on Apple devices, they cannot be used on other computers or tablets. That's why I prefer to have content from service providers that are more device independent (e.g. movies and books bought from Amazon can be used on other computers and tablets including the iPad). The iPad Mini has advantage of having rear-view camera and lighter weight, but that doesn't make its much higher price worth.

There's a good user review here comparing Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD:

Let me try to give a comparison between these two devices.

Kindle Fire HD (over Google Nexus 7):
- Dolby Audio Stereo speaker (normal stereo speaker on Nexus)
- Dual-band dual antennas Wi-Fi (single band, single antenna WiFi on Nexus)
- HDMI output (none on Nexus 7)
- A bit longer battery life (11 hours vs 9-10 hours on Nexus)
- Kindle only Features like Kindle Owners' Lending Library, Kindle FreeTime, X-Ray for movies and books

Nexus 7 (over Kindle Fire HD):
- Quad-core processor (dual-core on Kindle HD)
- Supports GPS (only available on Kindle Fire HD 4G LTE model)
- Supports NFC (for device to device communication)
- A bit lighter in weight (12 oz vs 13.9 oz)
- Full access to Google Play store apps (you can sideload many of those apps on Kindle Fire as well, and 60K apps are available in Kindle appstore)

Spec-wise, the Nexus 7 is a bit better. However, I'll choose the Kindle Fire HD for Amazon's customer support and content. Amazon provides all kinds of digital content, including movies, music, books, magazines, etc., that no other content provider can beat. And with the dolby audio speaker, dual antenna WiFi, and HDMI out, the Kindle Fire HD is the best tablet in the market for video streaming, watching movies, etc.

Hope that helps.
