IMO, Republicans believe people should keep and spend the money they earn themselves, and that government policy should be more "Christian". Republicans also have a preponderancy of going to war.

Democrats on the other hand, believe that the wealthier businesses and individuals should pay for some necessities poorer people cannot afford, and that religion has no place in public policy. They are more for peace and diplomacy and will usually not go to war unless they absolutely have to.
