How did Mickey mouse contribute to the 20's social revolution?

I did a search on 'Steamboat Willie' just to see when it came out. It was the third Mickey Mouse picture to be released (1928). It was also one of the first films with sound. I think you could argue Mickey's case as being a part of the film culture which would help spread 'new' and/or ethnic music forms through the media coming to and through the cinema theatres of the time. I believe Mickey was originally named 'Mortimer Mouse' - you may want to research him under that pseudonym. Notice that Mickey's tail disappeared over time.
