People, irregardless of political affiliation, still possess a sense of justice. Because of the large disconnect between taxes and social services, many people don't see the product of their hard work going to people who hardly work.
Politicians inherently live off of the public, and do not consider a parasitic relationship bad. As 'entitled' groups are nurtured and grow larger, they become dependable campaign funding sources and self-serving voting blocks Politicians and the influential rich are isolated from the effects of the welfare state, illegals, excessive immigration, etc., and this is part of the problem. To repair current domestic problems , democrats would like to increase taxes on the rich and employers to rescue overburdened social programs, without identifying this as a re-distribution of wealth. Anytime someone is spending another's money, part of it is spent unwisely. Maybe illegals would not be resented or unwelcome if they did not abuse public services: Public schools, Hospital emergency rooms, college tuition grants, etc. The current excessive immigration in the west and south would still cause overcrowding, strain on public and natural resources, wage deflation and housing hyper-inflation.
