The easiest solution to the social security crisis is to raise the retirement age. agreed?

No,I don't agree. Increasing the age of eligibility is a cruel negative response which turns the clock back to more backward times I have a few counter proposals which would put Social Security on firmer ground.

1 Since the US population is graying increasing in age and not reproducing itself there will be more money taken out by retirees and less going in. The only solution is to liberalize the immigration law so that young people from other countries, wold join the work force, and replenish the Social Security coffers. However at this point racism , hate, xenophobia would make this very difficult to achieve. We need more younger immigrants rather than less,

2.Increase Social Security deductions on the rich i.e $150,000 minimum income , increase estate taxes, capital gains taxes and gradually phase out Social Security payments to the rich, despite increasing their taxes

3. Prohibit the exportation of jobs abroad thereby increasing employment in the US

Withdraw all the troops from abroad, including stopping the Wars on Iraq and Afghanistan.

Increase the minimum wage

Stop the Bail outs of Banks and other failing institutions, and reallocating the money for Social Security Health, Housing Education and other domestic needs.

End the Drug War and the costs of enforcement.

Since prisons are so expensive release all non dangerous criminals to Parole and Community service.

Close NASA and other superfluous agencies which do not benefit the people.

Remove all special privileges of religious institutions, including tax breaks.

If this was done we would probably have more money than we need and we could solve multiple problems.

Many would call this Socialism like they falsely call Obama. They are right it's Socialism for the people and no the rich. And then hopefully America will become a Socialist country.
