Its not like taking over in fact both are under same managerial roof of Google so they are in relation of mutual correspondence.
And you can customize the Chrome Browser the way you want in all PCs except Chrome Book unless the search engine you have selected to make your default has not been listed in blocked list or Do Not Track Me list. Check out.
