How to react to celebrities speaking out about global warming?

I think anyone with sense realizes that celebrities aren't truly authoritative sources on any scientific matter, by and large. If you want to know what's going on in the real world, particularly with a potentially complicated issue like the environment, you really need to talk to actual scientists, not singers, politicians, talk radio hosts, or the like.

Sadly, not all people have sense. Some people will hear some flaw in a celeb's explanation of (or response to) some environmental phenomenon, realize it's incorrect, and assume the celeb in question was lying or wrong about all of it. Others will assume that the celeb is right and reality is wrong, if the two disagree. Only sensible people will treat a celeb's word as... interesting, but inconclusive in and of itself.
