What is the difference between republicans and democrats?

All these people are on one side or the other so they won't give you a right answer, rep- are for defending their state whatever it takes, decreasing the size of gov reach, against abortions, most against homosexuality, for use of firearms. But in reality our reps do very little to accomplish this. Dems- against fire arms, for abortions, for a big gov, for equality depending on the support from people, against war... etc etc.. the two party system is faulty but people have to choose one they feel like and end up accepting beliefs they don't want.
