I think it's only fair to warn you that you are showing dangerous signs of rational thinking.

Seriously, it is good that you are questioning. I would suggest reading about the origins of religion. I would recommend The Faith Instinct: How Religion Evolved and Why It Endures by Nicholas Wade (I don't completely agree with him, but he makes excellent points) and anything by Bart D. Ehrman, Professor of Religious Studies at U. of N. Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ehrman has written over 20 books on Christianity including Misquoting Jesus.
