Does 'seeding' torrents cost you ? Can 'seeding' be disabled ? If yes, how ?

It will cost you. You can disable seeding by using preferences or by removing the torrent file from torrent client just after download. You can limit upload speed when downloading but it will reduce your download speed as well.
