If a modem is the pathway to the internet, don't I need to good modem to make my internet fast?

it will never give you full speed...and it also depends upon how old your modem is...some Router / Home Hub has got in-build modem so if u've got one of those just call up your ISP and they will try to boost up your broadband connection...but be rest assured that they ain't gonna give you 300mbps...max you'll get is 200 - 250

if you dont have a router then reset everything which is what i do and the performance will improve a lil bit maybe for awhile or a few days...hope I cleared your confusion...
