First of all, it usually costs a small fortune to get into the top 10; be careful and try not to spend to much money untily u get a feel for how the traffic you receive for your efforst (and money) convert.

For keywords, I would suggest checking out the google keyword tool and putting in some broad / generic keywords (example: pet supplies). Then the tool will spit out TONS of highly relevant keywords that you can use, and it even gives search engine competition statistics, etc.

To find the tool, just do a search on google for "google keyword tool" and it will pop up.
