how often should I text my bf?

My bf and I aren't much into texting anymore since we've been dating for 2 years now, but I want to show him that I can be casual and flirty at the same time. I miss how we used to flirt through texts and facebook regularly like we used to. My boyfriend works full time and he's a construction worker so he works hard. I know that guys live for the thrill of the chase and I want to send him sexy/flirty messages but not so much that he starts taking it for granted. He told me that he likes it when I text him too. Should I text him once a day or once every other day? I also want to send him mysterious texts like "I was just thinking about you" or "sleep tight, don't dream about me too much!" any ideas?

Do you guys talk on the phone a lot? If not you should always at least send each other a good morning and good night text. Text him at least once a day. I know me and my boyfriend text each other whenever we can.
