why do people try and make it look like they are living the life on Facebook?
Like almost every page seems to be some teen bimbo or prettyboy also morons in their early 20's with 2000 pics of themselves posing in front of a mirror thinking they are hot s**t and endless bragging on their updates about a new car they are looking to get and in their photo galley is just pages upon pages of them partying.

WHY????????????????????? has society really become THIS shallow??????

"Oh yeah about to go party turn up swag" that's almost identical to the stuff you see huh? i know how you feel these are people that know in real life they're dull, brainless, opinionless, dime a dozen, wankers. So they pretend to be someone they're obviously not over facebook because simply they CAN. But in a real life situation trying to act like they did on facebook they would either be beaten, called out on their fakeness, or just not taken seriously another thing is most of the 800 friends they have on facebook they have never spoken a word to and probably never will so they can go on leading their plastic life

More importantly why are you reading all those pages and why do you care?

As for why they try to show off on facebook - why do people wear fancy clothes or drive cars they can barely afford to pay for or live in the very best house they can afford or wear make up and hair gel? The reason is the same as why peacocks have brightly coloured feathers. They are trying to impress someone in the hopes of advancing themselves in society.

No, society has not become "this" shallow. You are only seeing a very small segment of society and not that of contributing members. Most children and young adults are selfish and insecure. It takes maturity to realize and live and move in the fact that the world does not revolve around themselves.

1) People try to make it look like they're "living life" on Facebook for an "image" of course... they just want attention, and they get it over Facebook and other social medias. They want to seem cool, popular, and all that...

2) Not even close to all guys do this, so no, society has NOT become "THIS" shallow... because frankly, it isn't. There is something called "selective abstraction" and many people fall victim to it - when a detail is taken out of context and believed whilst everything else in the context is ignored. So for example, you see 15 guys on your Facebook page who are "pretty boys" and taking "selfies" daily... then you say, "why do most guys do this?"... when a simply fact is, most guys even on Facebook, don't do that... but next to that, a large portion of people don't even have Facebook. So even though it might seem like most guys do this, due to your "selective perception"... statistically speaking, not even CLOSE to "most guys do this".
