What is the 'timeline' in Facebook? New user here?

What is this 'timeline' thing everyone is talking about?
Is it already on all the Facebook pages?

It's a new format for your Facebook wall. It's more visual (contains more of your pictures at a first glance). Facebook will shortly automatically set your wall to timeline if you don't within the week.

Timeline is basically just a new profile layout for facebook. When you click on someones profile they might have the timeline, its a different layout you would recognise it. I don't know whether facebook will change all facebook profiles to it, but at the moment you decide whether you want it or not. By the way, this is only about facebook in england, i don't if it has happened in other countries.

A Timeline is the new virtual space in which all the content of every Facebook user will be organized and shown.

Replacing the Facebook Profile, in a Timeline the photos, videos, and posts of any given user will be categorized according to the period of time in which they were uploaded or created, in this way providing a more intuitive and comprehensible way to navigate through them.
