Why is facebook so slow on my computer?

I bought a brand new laptop a couple weeks ago and facebook is just really slow on it. My laptop has 8gb of RAM, a 1tb hardrive and an AMD-A10 processor. It runs games like world of tanks and left 4 dead at high settings at 30fps or low settings at 60fps but my facebook inbox and notifications wont load, and the only way i can upload pictures is by going into one of my albums>add photos>simple upload. Why is this happening? I use google chrome and my flash player is updated.

1. facebook doesnt like google chrome - do a time test using firefox to see if that makes a difference
2. make sure you get all of your windows updates and driver updates
3. make sure you are using the most recent versions of flash and java
4. install adblock - there is a firefox version and a chrome version
5. remember to restart your browser every day, especially if task manager says that your browser is using more than 700k of ram
6. you arent using windows 8 are you? that is a horrible operating system

facebook is a resource hog, because it has scripts that cause your browser to be constantly refreshing your news feed, trying to keep you up to date on what all of your friends are doing every instant of every day
