iPhone activation help?
okay, so I have an enV touch for verizon right now, and I found out that this person I know has an iPhone with no data plan, so all she can do is call and text on it but she can't get on apps that involve 3G unless she has wifi. so I got my friend's old iphone, and I tried to go to verizonwireless.com and activate it, but it won't let me activate it (probably because it's an iphone), so is there any possible way I can use it as a regular phone without a data plan? so I can still call and text like a normal phone, but just not use things like instagram and twitter where I don't have wifi.

You'll need a sim card cutter, its like $5-$15 dollars. First you'll need to unlock the iphone which is like $10 dollars. Then you will have to have like someone from radioshack or something to cut your REGULAR sim card and insert it and your iphone will help. You're welcome :-)

Verizon probably wont let you use the phone because it is still attached to your friends account. Your friend would need to replace the iPhone on her account with another phones ESN number. Once that is done, the iPhone will then be freed from her account and be able to be activated on another customers account.

Your friend does not have an iPhone with no data plan. And if she can call or text on it, it's activated to her account and can not be activated on yours until she activates something else.

And the Apple tech guru apparently doesn't know enough about iPhones to know that, on Verizon, they don't use a SIM card and, if they did, there would not necessarily be a need to cut a SIM card to fit.
