I've used different browsers, changed my password and the external account that it displays is mine, but not listed anywhere in settings or options. When I get that message, the screen "grays out" and it usually happens while mail is idle.

You've been hacked! You need to change the password on your backup email address too because from that one a hacker can get into all the accounts you have! Yahoo, YouTube, Facebook, all that is linked to email.
