Facebook Friend Suggestions?

So my friend found one of our teachers facebook so I decided to look them up and I found their profile. Later one of my other friends said that if you look someone up on facebook and go to their profile, even if you aren't their friend, your name will show up in their facebook 'suggested friends.' I really don't want my name to show up in their suggested friends list so they know I found them on Facebook, yikes! Is this true? If so is there any way I can prevent my name showing up in the suggested friends list? Will they probably notice my name? Please help asap. thanks!
