MW3 knife lunge using recon drone help, xbox 360?

I've been at this for awhile and can never get it right, i've been trying to get out of the outpost map through the hanger window, i get the recon drone, stand next the boxes (or whatever you call them) in front of the window, throw out the recon drone and i get my other guy to try and knife the other most of the time my guy doesnt even launch, and when he does i either miss or dont go high enough, ive been usng the throwing knife everytime i launch like ive seen in the videos and tutorials, but there must be some small details im missing, the times that ive launched i have no idea what i did to make it do that. answers would be appreciated.
Ive figured it out, ive been using the throwing knife to early and thats why i wasnt launching as high as i was
