I think the two most harmful constructs are "boys don't cry" and not going to the doctor until you have a life-threatening condition. The assumption that men cannot be victims of domestic violence runs a close third in my book.
Being portrayed as buffoon may be annoying, but it hasn't claimed any lives yet. The rapist archetype seems to be perpetuated more by male anti-feminists that by females. They love to take Nancy Friday's quote out of the context of the fictional character for which it was written and project it on to unsuspecting feminists in order to label them misandrists. Fortunately, no one outside of the cult drinks that cup of kool aid. Ads |
