What can happen if you hack someones facebook account?
So, today my mom and i had a debate concerning facebook. I had heard that high schools and colleges will now look at your facebook page to see what you personality is like before they accept you, so i asked my mom how they do this. She said that the school or business will hack your facebook account (even if it is private), and get away with it without having any punishment. However, i argued that anyone who will hack a private account is committing a illegal crime and can face charges from either the law or the person who's account was hacked. so, the question boils down to this:

If you hack a private facebook account (only just to look at the profile), what will happen:

A.) Face charges issued by either the law or the person who's account has been hacked.

B.) Be able to walk away free of charge and not have to face ANY consequence

if this is a law, please provide where you found it from. thanks!

Hacking into anything is illegal.
Hacking into a civillian computer is just as wrong as hacking into a government computer.

You can sue.

HOWEVER I highly doubt that they actually WILL Hack into your account. The worst they WILL do is look at your page, if you have stuff private, you're most likely safe.
I doubt that schools would waste time on hacking hundreds of facebook accounts.

NATE IS WRONG.
It is NOT ALLOWED, Good reason or not, it is ILLEGAL.

The only people who can do ANYTHING on probable cause, are the police. AND That's still a stretch, because PROBABLE CAUSE could lead to wrong information, or may not even be the right thing or place.

Your school cant hack your Facebook account, Facebook has partnership with all the departments of education around the globe a school based police officer or teacher can access your account by contacting them but the only reason why they should access your account is if you have done something on Facebook that you did in real life such as bullied someone and talked about it on Facebook.
