Does it offer something more than the free version? I was just curious if anyone knows.

No such thing as a paid version of Facebook. Anyone offering such a thing is running a scam.

There was a time when facebook was going to start making users pay due to loss of funds, but then they had a new advertisement campaign added and they don't need to make users pay.

There is currently no upgrade or payment available. (except for games and applications)
