How to disable facebook notifications for events?

I keep getting invited to "lost my phone, new numbers" events and EVERY time someone posts their number I get a notification. I can't figure out how to ignore events anymore, I think they removed the option to ignore events.
Is there a way to delete/ignore/stop getting notifications for events that I haven't responded to without declining it?

I go into notification settings and I can only change which notifications I get emails for. This is getting SUPER annoying and I'm stubborn enough to just stop using facebook for a while if I can't ignore the 21314342 billion notifications I get everyday from people posting on event walls I didn't even say I'd attend.

You can get rid of Email notifications from Facebook but i don't think on facebook you can change notifications setting.
