Is there a way to only use the messaging program on facebook?

My computer keeps freezing up/crashing etc when I'm trying to use facebook.
The thing is I ONLY use it for messages. I never view anything else.
Is there a way I can simply use the messaging part of facebook without any of the other stuff so that it's a bit easier on my computer?

Yes, you can download Facebook Messenger (it's an official app) and install it on your computer. And there you go, messaging only. No need to load the website anymore.
