How to Make A Website?
Hi everyone! I have recently been interested in making a website and have a few questions to ask about the process.
1) What is the step-by-step guide I have to go through, where do I go to do this, etc.?

2) How do I make a totally independent website that doesn't have to rely on any other websites/hosts? Sites such as Google, Youtube, and Facebook where if I miss a payment or am getting a lot of traffic I won't be charged extra and limited with what I make of my website.

3) How old do you have to be to run a website? I am currently 16 and will soon have a debit card. If I can't and have to use my parents until I'm 18, can i transfer it entirely to me later on when I am 18?

4) How much will the approximate cost be per year?

5) How much money can I earn in terms of the traffic I have?

Please feel free to let me know anything else about this concept, I'm really interested! What terms such as website hosting, bandwidth, registrars, etc. actually mean? Additional things I could run to gain revenue such as adsense? I aim to make a site that I have an interest in along with it generating a good amount of revenue that should grow within time, about $100 per day. Also, can it be too late to make a living off websites? Most of the successful websites have been active for years now, and I'd just be starting.

Hi Masha,

The start-up cost of a website is the domain and web hosting.

Search for an available domain at a registrar like GoDaddy of Namecheap. Available domains will cost about $10/year without hosting. Hosting is important and can cost $5 to $15/month and up. BlueHost and HostGator are hosting companies that have been around for years. Expect to spend about $25 to start and then the monthly hosting fee.

You will need a credit card to purchasing the domain and hosting. You can easily change the billing to another card in the future.

Many hosting companies offer one-click installs of WordPress. Highly recommended! WordPress is web software that you can use to manage your website. It's created by volunteers and open-source meaning it's free to use and build upon. Check out the WordPress guide at WPFluent.com

How much money you make will depend on the ads. Google Adsense pays publishers a few cents up to a few dollars for each click. You can expect to earn between $2 - $6 per 1,000 ad impressions.

It's not too late to make a living off websites, but it will take a little work. Good luck!

Before developing a website, you need to refine your core function of your site.
Then you need to approach some web development company to get done with your site.
Get domain name.
Finally select hosting provider and install the script in the server .

From my experience i am suggesting http://www.agriya.com/services , the place where you can go and do it.

For most newbies, Wordpress is a good choice. It is very easy. You need to do the following steps:
1: Webserver: You can buy a hosting service (a few dollars per month. Or you can also use free hosting service. Do a google search you will find tons of free hosting service. For starter, free hosting is enough.

2. Download wordpress from http://wordpress.org website, upload it to the public_html folder of your server, extract it and follow the tutorial in that website to setup wordpress. Very simple, in 5 minutes you can setup a working site.

3. Write articles: Write what you want, remember to add some tags and category for your article.

4. Ping google, yahoo, bing: You can fill in the url of your new post to this page http://bestbuyings.com/ping-google-bing-...ontent.php , click "send it" to notify these search engines to invite them to crawl and index your new article. Wordpress has pingomatic enabled by default. But recently that site has been very heavily overloaded, so better to use some other pinging service.

5. Build backlinks to your site: You can go to other blog, comment there and link to the relevant content to your website. Do this as much as you can.

6. Other ads startegy: If you have money, you can promote your site by using Google or Yahoo ads. Peaople will visite your sites through ads. Be careful with this option: If your site is not very important, you should not spend money for ads. It is quite wasteful in my opinion

The cost of running a website depends on how popular it is. A typical site will use about 2-3 dollars per month for hosting, 10 dollars per year for domain name, plus any other cost by hiring people to do the website promotion for you.

How much you get? : Really depends on how much traffic (pageview you have a day. Usually you can get about $2 for every 1000 page views (Typical rate for ads displaying)

Hope the above information helps you Smile
