Is it true that you have no privacy when using social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace?
I always thought that I was safe as long as I use the proper security settings on my Facebook account and block anyone that I do not wish to view my profile or anything I post. But I recently read something about internet privacy that said that anything you post immediately becomes partially owned by the site and that even if you delete something, it is never really gone. Can anyone shed some light on this subject for me? Any and all thoughts on the subject would be appreciated.

I believe it's true. As a member of a social network website you don't have privacy from the website owners, you just have privacy from other members on the website. The reason for this I think is because the website owners want to get to know the members better so they can improve the website more in the future and attract new members to their site. For example...they know that you are a person that loves privacy and you're not the only one, so they will use that to improve their security settings in the future. That's just an example, they can use anything you post to know what people in general want to make their website better.

So no..you don't have any privacy at all with the website owners. That's why i advice you not to use Facebook as your online diary. Just use to stay in contact with friends.
