Facebook push notifications ?

I have an iPhone 3G and every time I go onto Facebook, Skype or any 3rd pary apps that use push notifications a pop-up comes up saying:

connect to itunes to use push notifications
"facebook" notifications may include alerts, sounds and icon badges

However when I look at the settings page on my phone notifications are on and everything is turned on. I am not however recieving any notifications from the apps.

yes the notifications for facebook dont work properly on any iphone it works fine on other apps except facebook i had 4 iphones and had the same problem as you just turn your email on for notifications instead
